MM Voices: Charlotte ‘Stevie’ Wong
In our MM Voices blog post series, we’ll be introducing you to some of our employees from a range of business units – after all, our people are key to making sure we deliver a great and valuable service to our clients. First up is one of Research Interns: Charlotte ‘Stevie’ Wong. Stevie joined us in January 2018 after gaining a degree in Psychology from the University of London.
How did you find out about Media Measurement and why did you apply for the intern role?
I found out about the intern role via Inspiring Interns and the Research Internship was one of the recommended roles – I took an interest in the role due to the involvement with Media and the ‘large scale projects’ that I could get involved in. And when I saw that Media Measurement were also looking for someone who was enthusiastic….which I believe describes me perfectly!
|We hear you’re into your social media – in fact the term ‘influencer’ has been thrown around the office….?
At the age of 16 I first got into Tumblr and had a few accounts. However, the one that got successful (with 50k+ followers) was my main social media channel where I blogged about fashion, drawings, animation and skincare. I decided to get into it as it was a getaway from school stresses at the time and I made loads of new online friends which was great as I was quite shy back then.
I decided to deactivate my main social media account during university as I found I was too busy to keep up the work it required (you’d be surprised with how much time you need to spend on it!) although I have recently started a new tumblr and IG again. When I was really into social media I was actually sponsored by a few companies – the main ones being “Shein” and “Pinky Paradise”.
Do you think your previous experience has helped with your role here?
Yes, definitely! I believe it’s helped me really understand analytics and insights a lot more which comes in handy in this role.
What have you been doing at Media Measurement and what in particular have you enjoyed?
What haven’t I done?! Online news and social media analytics/insights, data downloads, Boolean searches – and getting hands on experience with a wide range of data tools! My favourite part has to be the insights – delving into the data and finding the nuggets of useful information. And writing up Boolean search strings, and the Non Prism sheets are pretty enjoyable for some odd research. The people I work with always make me giggle – definitely the reason why I feel so happy after a day at MM!
And finally….your special talent?
As Olly says, roast dinner specialist! But other than that, I would say animating most probably. Or winning every Chubby Bunny game I’ve ever played!
