MM Voices: Olly Marsh
In our MM Voices blog post series, we’ll be introducing you to some of our employees – after all, our people are key to making sure we provide inspiring digital intelligence to our clients. Following on from Stevie, this time we talked to Olly, one of our Senior Research Analysts who joined us as an intern in December 2016.
Tell us a bit about your journey at MM.
It’s been a rollercoaster of learning and achieving, that’s for sure! From day 1 I’ve been thrust into a huge project surrounding a leading charity which has fascinated and challenged me at every turn. Part of the charm of working at a smaller company is getting to be hands on and being exposed to various different projects, which has also been interesting. It’s also been a pleasure getting to know, and working alongside, such a wonderful group of people and having a good laugh whilst striving for success.
What’s been your biggest achievement to date at MM?
It would have to be my career progression to date – I joined as an intern under 2 years ago and have progressed to analyst and most recently to senior analyst in that time!
But if I was to pick something that doesn’t centre around me, I would say it’s been the development of a team attitude and culture where everyone collaborates together to get the work done in a fun and enthusiastic environment.
What 3 words would you use to describe your job?
Dynamic. Collaborative. Innovative.
You mentioned you started as an intern. What advice would you give to someone considering an internship with us?
I would say that it’s a really good opportunity for anyone. MM encourages progression and learning, which is demonstrated by the fact I’ve worked up to Senior Analyst from Intern. I’ve found it a great way to kick start my career in the world of market research and there’s no reason why others can’t follow the same path as me. There’s also been a wealth of experience within MM that I’ve been able to tap into and has helped with developing some key skills that made me successful.
Be prepared to roll your sleeves up and get involved. Proactivity is the key here.
Plus, if you need any more encouragement, there’s a beer tap in the office….
And finally…your passion project outside of work?
Well, apart from creating a leading a tournament winning 5-a-side team (all from the position of goalie; some would say I’m the next Neuer, Casillas or Loris), I also consider myself a Soho pub connoisseur specialising in craft ales and gin.
Did I mention that the office has a free beer tap?
